Mindfulness Course
We are offering an 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
course based on the extensive and well-researched work by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Mindfulness is a skill that involves paying attention to our experiences
with an attitude of acceptance and kindness. Research shows that
mindfulness can improve quality of life through a reduction in stress,
worry and low mood.
The course consists of eight weekly sessions, and involves the practice
and discussion of mindfulness meditation. Home practice between sessions
is a key component and typically involves 20-30 minutes per day. We will
provide resources to help with the home practice, including a workbook
and downloadable meditation exercises.
The group will consist of between 12 and 15 people, and will be
facilitated by myself and Dr Jane Petersen, a Clinical Psychologist.
Between us we have 40 years of experience working in the field of mental
health. We have considerable experience of delivering mindfulness
courses and have completed formal training in teaching mindfulness.
